Finally got around to fixing the menu on www.georgetowncruising.com. There were some issues of it jamming up with certain versions of Internet Explorer. That’s all taken care of now; turns out it was a DOCTYPE problem.
This site got a mini-update as well. I updated my portfolio with new images, and unlocked it! I also updated the About section and updated some other stuff.
On a similar note, the QuickPlayer also got a bit of an update. I wrote a php script that dynamically generates the playlist based on the mp3 files in the music folder, so now there’s no having to open/edit/save/upload it every time I upload a song to it.
What else? Oh, I’m going to give Twitter another shot. I really dont see the point of having it unless you have a few hundred followers, I think FaceBooks better for status updates, but hey.
OH AND GET THIS. Remember the post I made ages back about Google ads not showing up on my computer? Guess what? I had modded my hosts file ages ago and put pagead2.googlesyndication.com as a test site to see if it worked, and forgot about it. I dont know what made me check there, but that’s where the problem was. Now I’m getting ads like I should. I guess thats a good thing.
Okay then, bed time. I’ve been having alot of late nights and longs days, so a good nights rest is in order. I say that as I see 1AM roll by

Ok, this is getting my a little ticked off. For some reason, on my old computer, Google ad’s stopped showing up. I just moved to a brand new computer, set everything up like I like it, and now I am getting the same problem. I just checked with IE and its the same thing. The ad’s show up on my laptop which is right here next to me. I think it could be Google Gears, but disabling or uninstalling has no effect.
Why am I writing this? Because maybe you know the answer, and also to let my frustration out. And to increase my post count by one.

In memory of “The Barge”.
We’ve had this boat, named “The Barge”, for about 10 years now. It used to be a workhorse when we still used it, but ever since all the buildings have been built, its just been sitting on a mooring, slowly rusting away.
Back when we were still building up the property, the barge used to bring over concrete, lumber, and other supplies to the small island that we are on. Everything here essentially came over on it.
Just the day before yesterday, someone from a marine center just a few miles away made an offer on it, which was actually more than we were expecting to get from it. Alas, the time has come to let it go.
The twin Detroit 671’s fired right up (after I put a new battery on it), and I brought it over to the dock using the engines alone; the steering was frozen. The past two days have been busy, cleaning the rust off of it, making sure everything was working, and getting our old junk off of it.
Tomorrow my friend and I will be taking it to the marine center to drop it off.

As I look at my computer clock right now (11:58), it is apparent that Christmas Day is right upon us.
I want to wish all of you a merry Christmas, or Hanukkah, or Festivus if the case may be. Wherever you are though, just give thanks to everyone and everthing you have for the holidays.

Here’s something pretty neat: Go to google.com and click the “I’m feeling lucky” button without typing anything in the search box. A very large group of numbers will display at the bottom — a countdown timer in seconds until New Years.

You may have seen the (RED) logos on a lot of items you buy, expecially this time of the year. But you ask youself, “What is it? Why does it effect me?”. Here’s a Wikipedia excerpt on (RED):
Product Red is a brand licensed to partner companies such as American Express, Apple Inc., Starbucks, Converse, Motorola, Gap, Emporio Armani, Hallmark, Microsoft, and Dell. It is an initiative begun by U2 frontman Bono and Bobby Shriver of DATA to raise money for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Bobby Shriver has been announced as the CEO of Product Red, and Bono is an active public spokesperson for the brand.
Each partner company creates a product with the Product Red logo. In return for the opportunity to increase its own revenue through the Product Red products that it sells, a percentage of the profit is given to the Global Fund.
Product Red states that its main principles are:
* To expand opportunities for the people in the continent of Africa.
* To respect its employees and ask its partners to do the same with their employees and the people who help make their products or deliver their services.
* To promote HIV/AIDS awareness policies and practices in the workplace.
* To see the power of a community mobilized for hope, health and progress.
* To ask its partners to uphold the same principles.

I really enjoy watching the Microsoft Bing commercials, this one was particularly. I couldn’t find any subtitles for it so I wrote my own. If there is a problem anywhere, leave a comment and I’ll correct it.

Don’t panic. All my posts are not going to be as cheesy as this one. I’ve set WP to only show 10 posts on the homepage, so I’m celebrating the 10 (now 9) below.
